Come on a hive tour and learn all about honeybees and their hives! We also offer three different levels of beekeeping classes to those interested in having their own apiary.

Beehive Tour

Learn about the fascinating world of honeybees by participating in a hands-on hive tour that few people get to experience!

Available May-August 

  • Approximately 2 hours
  • $35 Adult
  • $20 Kids 9-12 yrs

What’s included:

  • Learn about honeybees and their hives
  • A lesson in how bees pollinate
  • Guided, up-close beehive tour
  • Honey tasting fresh from the hive
  • Limit of 10 people per tour

 

This beehive tour includes a lesson about honeybees, a beehive inspection with a professional beekeeper, and honey tasting fresh from the hive! Discover how to suit up in protective gear, light a smoker, and get up close and personal with the bees as you watch them work in their hive. Experience the excitement as new bee babies are being born and watch as workers bring pollen in from the fields. Get a better understanding of honeybees and why their survival is so important to our world.

Beginning Beekeeping Class

Have you ever been interested in becoming a beekeeper? This class is for you!

Available January-February

  • Approximately 2 hours long
  • $35 Adult
  • $20 Kids 9-12 yrs

  • Importance of Bees
  • Beekeeping Tools

Learn all about beekeeping from a professional beekeeper! This lesson includes the biology of the honeybee, the division of labor, and the bee life cycle. Beehive management, appropriate tools, and protective gear are also discussed. This class is approximately two hours long and explains how to keep bees in the Texas Panhandle.

Intermediate Beekeeping
Class

This class is for beekeepers with fresh experience wanting to learn more.

Available January-February
 

  • Approximately 1.5 hours long
  • $40 Per Person
  • Beekeepers In Years 1-4

Learning Material:

  • Swarm Prevention and removal
  • Splitting a beehive
  • Disease Prevention
  • Hive Aggressiveness
  • Honey Extraction
The intermediate beekeeping class is approximately 1.5-2 hours in length and discusses all of the ins and outs of beekeeping in years two and beyond. Swarm prevention, re-queening, and disease prevention are just a few of the topics discussed.
